Rudbeckia
Rudbeckia
Rudbeckia, or Black-eyed Susans have been in flower gardens for years, but new varieties keep this flower interesting and a must grow. For a perennial favorite, Rudbeckia hirta is the classic bright yellow flower with a chocolate center. Other great varieties that I grow as an annual are ‘prairie sun’ (with the yellow-green eye), ‘triloba’ (with multiple small black-eyed yellow flowers–this one reseeds easily) and ‘Sahara,’ which throws all kinds of muddy peach, brown and burgundy colors. It’s great for fall, but with so many color variations I find myself using it all summer.
