Sedum, or stonecrop, is a dependable succulent that works both in a landscape and cutting garden. The most common variety is Autumn Joy. During the summer, the plant will put on tiny broccoli-like flowers. Those heads turn a pale pink and then deepen into a rust, copper color in the fall. They can be used at any phase of flowering and add a lovely texture and color to a group of flowers. They can take heat, lack of watering, grow well in containers, almost anything. The only thing that has killed them at my farm is my dogs breaking them off and uprooting them by wrestling across them.
