Phlox is native to North America and makes a wonderful floral filler. Most phlox can be grown as a perennial in a cutting garden, or as an annual in the field. I’ve noticed phlox (especially lavender) at many older homesteads; it’s not picky about the soil conditions. Although it’s not always easy to find, it’s worth seeking out!
